Do blast windows and doors provide hurricane protection ? No.
Although you will get some level of hurricane protection with blast tested products, impact and blast products are designed differently and to perform under different circumstances. The same is true for this question in reverse. If you need impact as well as blast, this should be specified.
Is there a difference in windows approved for High Velocity Hurricane Zones and windows approved for other areas ? YES
The windows approved for HVHZ generally can withstand higher wind loads, have a higher water resistence level, and would typically be an overall higher grade of window. The testing is more stringient than windows that may be approved for hurricane resistance for all areas other than HVHZ.
If I live outside of an HVHZ, should I install windows that are not HVHZ approved ? YES. Although that is up to the individual, our suggestion would be to install windows with the highest level of protection.
I own a store with window displays. What should I do to protect my products on display ? The best protection would come from a large missile impact rated storefront. Also, dont forget your entry doors. You should check with your insurance company to find out what discounts may be available to you.

What type of buildings would benefit from impact or blast windows ? Any building with exposure to threats from storms and severe weather or from theft, outside invasion by intruders, or terrorism.
I will suggest a few, but first you must determine your primary reason for added protection. Contact Trident and we will help you determine the best system for you. Depending on where you are located, you may be required by code to provide large missile impact protection. You may benefit from windows and doors that combine hrricane impact protection with blast mitigation. Any federal, county or state office building would benefit from protection systems but there are many private buildings that would also benefit. For example, stores with high value merchandise, law offices, bail bond offices, offices and stores with a low number of employees, and buildings in areas that are subject to crime. We recommend large missile impact windows and doors for all homes to provide protection from all threats.
